I have been asked this question several times by Pilgrims walking on a shorter or a long haul Camino about purchasing Camino jewelry as a momento. They don’t want the kitchy touristy stuff at souvenir shops all along the way. But they are worried about waiting to the end and paying a premium for something in a store in Santiago. What to do?

I always recommend that they stop by Joyeria Roval on Rua Alexandre Boveda in Melide and see Jose Roval and his family, who run a jewelry and gift store. Mostly frequented by locals, including when Jeff wants to get me a gift, it’s a shop that carries unique Camino, and uniquely Galician, items you won’t find at other places on the Camino. Especially the Sargadelos charms and small packable figurines so synonymous with this area of Spain. Something you won’t find in Pamplona, Burgos or Leon.

Their prices are fair and their selection is deep. And they are just nice, honest people. Just a half a block from the traffic circle in downtown Melide, it’s easy to find. If you are walking the Camino Frances or coming into Melide from the Camino Primitivo, check them out for a unique remembrance of your epic journey!
